"Leading Change Successfully 2nd Edition. (Collection)"
This is a collection of articles put out by the Harvard Business Review. The first article is “Leading Change: Why Transformations Fail” by John K. Kotter. Kotter lays out eight stages of change and provides guidelines to avoid common mistakes at each stage. The second article is “Cracking the Code of Change” by Michael Beer and Nitin Nohria. The authors explain how to balance “hard” or Theory E change with “soft” or theory O change. It uses examples of CEO’s to illustrate how to achieve this balancing act.  The last article is “Managing Change: The Art of Balancing” by Jeanie D. Duck. This author explains how to foster the trust and empowerment essential for mitigating the painful emotions sparked by change. Each article offers a unique and interesting perspective on changes in the workplace. Â

"Coaching the Alpha Male."
This article takes a look at the alpha male in organizations and how they can be successfully coached. It states the 70% of top executives are alpha males and although they are a vital part of companies they can be frustrating to work with. This piece states that many alpha males need professional coaching; the challenge for the coach is preserving the alpha male’s strengths while fixing their weaknesses. The authors offer some tips for coaching the alpha male and offer five steps for alpha male growth. The article also looks at their values and risks to an organization.
